In dog training,
jerk is a noun,
not a verb.

ABOUT YOUR NEW FAVORITE ANIMAL TRAINER

Candice Murray

Passionate. Patient. Persistent. These are just a few of the characteristics that describe me. I have trained all types of animals (from wolves and bobcats, to dogs and turtles).  I know each animal is unique and every pet family is different. I will work with your fur-buddy to give them the specific training they need (and of course, guide you every step of the way). Whether you’re thinking about getting an animal, have a new pet, or already own a pet with behavioral issues, I am here to help.

EXPERIENCE

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
CANINE CONSULTATION, THERAPY AND BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION

Carried out day to day responsibilities (you know... maintaining a clean and safe environment for dogs and humans, ordering premium toys/food/treats/apparel, financials, scheduling staff and booking our doggy/kitty/bunny guests). As canine therapist, I also got the chance to work with many different types of dogs and their owners. Every case was completely different and it was amazing to see how far dogs/cats (and their humans) progressed throughout.

ZOO DIRECTOR AND CURATOR

As curator, overseeing acquisitions of animals from other zoos, rescues or the wild was definitely the scariest part. I of course monitored, evaluated, and directed the design process, maintenance, repair, and enhancement of animal quarters, buildings, exhibits, and surrounding grounds. I got to care for, train and do A LOT of research for a variety of animals, including mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds. Decisions involving animal husbandry, diets, veterinary care, quarantine procedures, enrichment activities, animal transportation, and research projects were among my daily tasks.

ANIMAL TRAINER AND ENRICHMENT COORDINATOR

My role as coordinator was to oversee all practices surrounding animal training, enclosure enrichment and mental stimulation. My ultimate goal was to reduce the stress of veterinary procedures by training animals to cooperate in medical care, and encourage positive keeper-animal relationships by staff training, education and development. This position also gave me the chance to rehabilitate and (hopefully) release orphaned or injured wildlife to their natural habitat. Training wildlife is actually easier than training dogs and cats... honestly.
